Overview
Silence Splitter automatically detects silent parts in an audio file and splits it into sections.
It helps you organize long recordings or language-learning materials into manageable phrases or utterances.
You can also extract only the parts you need, or save a memorable passage separately.

How to Use
Import a File
Tap “Import File” or “Import Podcast / Music” to open the file selection screen.
- Import File
Tap the “Import File” button to open the Files app.
You can choose from iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or other cloud storage services, as well as audio files saved locally on your device. By default, only iCloud Drive is visible.
To add other cloud services:- Tap the three dots in the left sidebar > Edit Sidebar
- Under Locations, enable Google Drive or OneDrive
- Import Podcast / Music
Import audio files from Podcasts or your Music Library. Note:- DRM-protected files (such as Apple Music tracks) cannot be imported
- Items stored only in the cloud (with a cloud icon) must be downloaded first
Once imported, the file will be automatically split at silent sections, and the waveform editor will appear at the top of the screen.
At the same time, speech recognition will display the beginning text of each section.
Export
Tap “Export” to save the split files into the app’s folder.
- Exported files can be accessed from the Files app
- You can also use “Zip & Share” to send via AirDrop to your Mac or open them in other apps
Waveform Editor
- Select sections to export
- Move, delete, or add split points
- Tap ▶︎ on the right to play a section
- Uncheck the box on the left to exclude a section from export
- Drag to move a split point, or tap to delete/add one
- Pinch with two fingers to zoom in/out on the waveform
Settings
- Silence Detection
- Threshold Time: Silent sections longer than this are recognized as silence
- Noise Tolerance: The higher the value, the more background noise is tolerated as silence
- Language
Select the language spoken in the audio file. Used for speech recognition. - Trim Trailing Silence
When enabled, trailing silence at the end of each section is cut.
